ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE CENTRAL SOCIAL WELFARE BOARD

1. One-day workshop on the “future role of Central Social Welfare Board and State Social Welfare Boards in Empowerment of Women and Development of Children”. was organized by the Central Social Welfare Board on 26th May, 2017at Hyderabad. The workshop was attended by academicians, Govt. functionaries, Chairpersons of the State Social Welfare Boards, Members of Executive Committee of Central Social Welfare Board, eminent Social Workers and officers of Central Social Welfare Board.

Shri Chetan B. Sanghi, IAS, Joint Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Women and Child Development with additional charge of Chairperson, Central Social Welfare Board inaugurated the workshop. Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj, Executive Director, CSWB addressed the gathering and threw light on the perspective of the Board. She elaborated on the strength and infrastructure of the Central Social Welfare Board and State Social Welfare Boards. Shri M. Jagadeeswar, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Telangana, Department of Women, Child, Disabled Welfare also graced the occasion.

2. As per recommendations of the workshop, a Consultative Committee headed by Shri Ramesh Negi, IAS (Retd.), Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights was constituted. Members of the committee were Prof. Manjit Singh, Dean, Social Sciences, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Prof. Sanjai Bhatt, Department of Social Work, University of Delhi, Prof. Jyoti Kakkar, Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi,

Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Company Affairs, National Law University, Delhi, Dr. Rakesh Khandal, Member, Central Social Welfare Board, Shri Vijay Kumar Gupta Chartered Accountant & Company Secretary, New Delhi and Shri S.R. Meena, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India. Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj, Executive Director, CSWB was Member Secretary. The Committee was constituted to draw a roadmap on future role and restructuring of the Central Social Welfare Board and State Social Welfare Boards. The committee submitted its report to Shri Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development on 9th January 2018.

3. The 182nd Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Central Social Welfare Board was held on 11th August, 2017, followed by 48th Annual General Body meeting. The meeting was chaired by Shri Chetan B. Sanghi, Joint Secretary, MWCD, having additional charge of the Chairperson, CSWB. Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj, Executive Director, CSWB welcomed all the members of the newly constituted Executive Committee. All Joint Directors of the Central Social Welfare Board were present in the meeting. The Committee took up administrative and financial matters of the Board for taking a decision as per the delegation of the power.

4. As a part of the Swachhta Hi Sewa (SHS) campaign organized from 15th September to 2nd October 2017, the Central Social Welfare Board celebrated Sewa Diwas in its office premises on 17th September, 2017 under the theme ‘Swachhta hi Jeevan hai’ and ‘Swachhta hi apna lakshya banaye’. Various activities were organized by the Board on this occasion. Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj, Executive Director of the Board administered Swachtta pledge to all the staff members and planted a tree in the garden area. A short film on importance of Swachhta was screened at Mantrana. Posters and Slogans on Swachhta were prepared by the officials and displayed in and around the office to spread the message of awareness about cleanliness. Cleanliness drive was conducted in office premises where all officials took part.

5. A Two Days National Workshop on Role of Sakhi – One Stop Centres in Strengthening Multi- Sectoral Response in Violence was organized by Ministry of Women & Child Development on 15th – 16th December 2017 at NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi with support of Central Social Welfare Board. The workshop was inaugurated by Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Minister of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India. Sh. Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Sh. Chetan B. Sanghi, Joint Secretary, MWCD and Chairperson, CSWB, Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj, Executive Director, Central Social Welfare Board, were also present on the occasion.

6. One Day Regional Workshop in North Central Region on Role of Sakhi- One Stop Centre in Strengthening Multi Sectoral Response to Violence was organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and the Central Social Welfare Board on 19th January, 2018 at Bhopal. Officials of One Stop Centres, Helpline and SRCW of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand participated. The programme was inaugurated by Sh. Chetan B. Sanghi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and Chairman, Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi along with Sh. J.N. Kansotia, Principal Secretary, Deptt. of Women & Child Development, Smt. Padma Shukla, Chairperson, Madhya Pradesh State Social Welfare Board, Smt. Jayshee Kiyawat, Commissioner, Women Empowerment, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh and Smt. Neelam Bhardwaj , Executive Director, Central Social Welfare Board by lighting a lamp.

7. One Day Regional Workshop in Southern Region on Role of Sakhi - One Stop Centre in Strengthening Multi Sectoral Response to Violence was organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and the Central Social Welfare Board in collaboration with Department of Women & Child Development, Govt. of Karnataka and Karnataka State Social Welfare Board on 3rd February, 2018 at Vikasa Soudha , Bengaluru. Around 206 Officials of One Stop Centres, Women Helplines and SRCWs, counsellors of FCCs, field staff posted in southern states and DWCD officials participated in the workshop covering States like Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry, A&N Islands, Karnataka, Kerala and Odisha.The workshop was inaugurated by Smt. Uma Mahadevan, Principal Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of Karnataka.

8. One-day North Eastern Regional Workshop on “Role of Sakhi-One Stop Centres in Strengthening Multi-Sectoral Response to Violence” was held at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara, Guwahati-22, Assam on 9th February, 2018. The workshop was organized by Ministry of Women & Child Development Govt. of India in collaboration with Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi where officials of One Stop Centres, Women Helplines and SRCWs, Counsellors of FCCs, field staff posted in North-Eastern States took part. The Regional Workshop covered States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura Workshop was inaugurating by Sri Jishnu Barua, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Assam.

9. North-Western Regional Workshop on Role of Sakhi - One Stop Centre in Strengthening Multi Sectoral Response to Violence was organized at Ahmedabad under the esteemed guidance of Ministry of Women and Child Development and collaboration of Central Social Welfare Board. The event was organized by Gujarat State Social Welfare Board on 16th February, 2018 at Ahmedabad.

10. One Day Orientation Training Programme of "Functionaries of Family Counselling Centres and other Stakeholders" was conducted by Karnataka State Social Welfare Board at Belagavi, Karnataka on 1st March, 2018. Around 550 participants from Family Counselling Centres, functionaries and other stakeholders from Karnataka and neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Goa, field officers of CSWB & Department of WCD, Govt. of Karnataka took part in it. The Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Women & Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi graced the occasion as Chief Guest and launched the Web-Portal of Family Counselling Centre and Repository & Rapid Reporting System for Family Counselling Centre programme. On the occasion, Madam Gandhi released a booklet on Success Stories of Family Counselling Centres.
